Show LA BARGE FIELD WESTERN WYOMING NOW HAS THE CALL OF OIL MEN J A egildson of the egildson bros company diamond drill 0 operating P zal concern announced on his arrival from wyoming a few days ago that a lease on acres of ground on the la barge structure south of the newlon well had been secured and that drilling would be started just as soon as a rig can be placed it is expected that 1000 feet will have to be drilled to get the oil and it is figured that the task will be completed within thirty days after a start is made with one of the companas comp anys own diamond drilling outfits the well brought in a few days ago by the diamond drill operating on a lease from froin P J quealy A D hoskins E L smith and others of kemmerer to the wyomah oil gas co an ogden combination is good for barrels a day according to mr E egildson bildson the well vell is feet deep and is located on section 34 township 27 north and range west vest about three fourths of a mile north of the newlon well both the producer on section 34 and the one on section 27 to which the diamond drill rig has been moved according to the kemmerer gazette is on land owned by kemmerer people and as a result excitement runs high there over what is accepted as the forerunner of another high grade oil field west of the continental divide where 6 geologists a few years ago said no oil would be found midwest is active in the field the midwest oil refining company standard sub si diary which took over the holdings of the cretaceous mid alid mountain and lincoln idaho companies is rushing material and equipment onto the dry piney dome to the north and nine trucks are plying daily between opal and the upper fields where charles lackey brought in the well that attracted the standard group to this section visitors to the midwest camp report that material presages the deepest test thus far attempted in this region the heaviest of standard tools and casing is now on the ground while a deep cellar has been dut dug prior to studding spud ding in the test well of the midwest is located more nearly on the axis of anticline than any heretofore made and great expectations are held for the result of the well which it is said will be drilled to feet or better in an endeavor to tap the lowest horizons thought to exist in the famed la barge anticline the tip top oil company has moved in on section 31 28 adjoining the stumpf and long permits and drilling is about abou t to begin at a point about five miles south of the midwest camp wyoming reserve oil company a newlon concern has moved its star rig south of the first producer brought I 1 in by this company in the la barge field on 3 26 and will spud in this test is considered by some to be a it su sure re shot as it offsets the newlon no 1 at a distance of only feet superior oil gas has tools on the ground for its test to the east of the newlon well vell on 35 27 the la barge oil field is now considered a proven area inasmuch as every sand penetrated thus far has given up its corn commercial mercial quantity of oil geologists from many of the leading operating companies of the country have been in the field since the last issue of the gazette and interest heretofore unknown is being shown |
