Show W IN D 0 1 JOA PIONEER MILLER MILLED CALLED GALLEO BY DEATH A R RW r rW W D Major Utah pioneer miller for many years a resident of cf Bountiful Bountiful Bountiful ful and who had lived in the state since 1863 died Tuesday at the home of oC his daughter Mrs Mr J D Harrod in Layton Deceased was born bom in Southampton ton England and next Monday would have been seventy-eight seventy years old He lIe joined the Church as a I boy and emigrated to these valleys alleys lIes lIe's in 1863 comming directly to Salt Lake City where he was employed as a by President Brigham Young in the City Creek Mill northeast of Salt Lake City He lie followed the milling business for man many years h having ving oper- oper operated operated a flour mill in Kaysville later the H II C Kimball grist gri t mill in Boun Boun- Bountiful Bountiful Bountiful then a mill in Thatcher Arizona Ari- Ari Arizona Ari Arizona zona He owned the H C Kimball mill property in Bountiful and in ad- ad addition addition ad addition to doing is a milling business al- al also also al also so operated a sort of a resort having boats on the mill race Mr Major run a store in what i isnow now the Evans Bakery building for some timo time before moving to Kays- Kays Kaysville ville Kays-ville yule ville a few years ago to make his permanent home The deceased w was s always a very ery active man and he always prided him himself himself himself self in paying his bills promptly He lIe was also a Blackhawk Indian war veteran His first wife Mrs Virginia file Mc- McMaster Master Mc-Master Master Major died in 1904 and some sometime sometime sometime time later h he married Mary tary Ellen Findlay who survives The following children survive sUr Mrs E W Fisher West Point Mrs Irs J D Harrod and Albert A Major of Layton D H Major Centerville Bruce Major Kaysville Mrs George corge Si Sims s and Heber Major Los Angeles Mrs Airs A B D Van Epps Phoenix Ariz Aniz Fred R Major Wales Utah 70 grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren Funer Funeral l services will be held at 2 p m this Friday in the Kaysville Tabernacle Interment will be in the Kaysville haysville cemetery |
