Show 0 THE MASCOT MINE OF IDAHO I 1 charles peter of salt lake president and general manager for the mascot mining alining milling company returned last week from a visit to the companas comp anys property located at peter out from halley hailey idaho he states that the past winter has proven the worst that the section has experienced in years and that lie he found the country buried under a great mass of snow he reports that the mine is in good condition with work progressing favorably the force is working on ore in two faces at the present tin time le mr peter is making arrangements range ments for an extensive development campaign the coming season and states that favorable developments may be expected within the next t thirty hirty days jud judging t from conditions as he found them on this trip the hailey times in a recent review of mining in that section of idaho had the following to say about this promising property the mascot mining alining company took hold a year and a half ago but the present man argement has only been in charge five or six months or since the company was reorganized with diaries charles peter of salt lake as president judge J AI stevens of pocatello as secretary and treasurer and E Ram C E E al as superintendent on assuming charge mr Ram laid out a plant of development which necessitated the cleaning out and re timbering of the old workings the driving of connecting drifts and the sinking of a shaft in so doing he reopened two veins which carry respectively six to ten feet of ore and twenty five to seventy seven tyve five feet of ore with lots of room for more in each vein even up to the foot width which the paymaster shows on the surface mr Ram is now driving toward two other veins in the same property which show on the surface and in which he rather expects to find shipping ore as he would like to take advantage of the high prices for metals so far all the ore developed by mr allram ram is very complex it carries gold silver lead zinc and probably other metals and is of precisely the same character as that of the federal company taking hold late in the fall snow came at that elevation than it did down here had the company been older mr Ram would immediately have prepared to employ a large number of miners carpenters and other outside help regardless of expenses but under the existing circumstances he thought it best to go slowly so he be has kept the force down to fourteen men but now that the open season is coming he will buy an air compressor 1000 feet of eight inch water pipe and 2000 feet of two and a half inch air pipe and air drills and increase his force so that if his company on his advice concludes conclude a to put in a mill there will be a sufficient supply of ore developed to keep it in operation for years there are an adequate water power and an ample supply of timber on the property As above stated the company is operating with a small force because mr ram who is known for his conservatism wished to satisfy himself that the property was worth spending money on he is now certain that a mill will pay and if he can induce his company to give him a duplicate of the federal companas Comp anys mill lie he believes that lie he can pay a dividend in 1917 |
