Show late news of oatman boatma n D district i 0 serl ct BY H E DAVIS oatman ariz dec 8 at a meeting of the directors of the tom reed mining lining IN company held november the board authorized the construction of an additional mill unit of tons daily capacity it will be located in the old mill building and consist of a ton marcy pebble mill dorr thickeners and agitators additional cyanide tanks and a II merrill errill zinc dust precipitating plant the addition will cost approximately arrangements will be made for handling the ore extracted during development of the companas comp anys new aztec mine in this new plant either an aerial or surface tram will be constructed it is the intention of the officials to place an entirely new ton plant on the aztec ground when it shall have been thoroughly developed steady development is in progress on the aztec the main shaft is nearing the foot point and is now cutting through the vein which dips to the north the main ben harrison shaft will be continued to or below the 1400 foot level which is now reached by a from the 1200 foot level ivanhoe has resumed the ivanhoe has resumed mining operations r with two shifts after spending some two weeks in pumping out the property A powerful compressor plant is now in operation and mining oe rations will not be hampered by lack of power as they were when the workings were flooded some two months ago when work was stopped the drift on the foot level had just broken into a full face of quartz which showed high pan values during the next few days important news is expected as to the importance of this body of ore superintendent A G keating who made such a success of the big jim states that the quartz which was exposed coincidentally with striking the big flow of water is the best looking ever shown in that section of the oatman district the lucky boy has now resumed oper afons the shaft is being continued downward from the foot point and will probably be taken to feet depth before lateral work is resumed the operators desire to find the permanent water level before doing extensive lateral development the vein lies but a short distance from the shaft and many strong and highly mineralized erali zed quartz seams have already been encountered by the shaft big jim operations the big jim company will resume sinking by the of december and will carry the bore down to about feet depth opening a station at feet the present deepest level is feet on the and foot levels the vein has been opened for a lateral distance of f feet two crosscuts cross cuts of the vein on the 2401 foot level alid three on the foot level have yet to be driven and then work of exploring the vein and blocking out ore on and above the foot level will be completed for some time to conie come the entire work is in mill grade ore the ore shoot averaging better than twenty five feet in width and it is estimated that it will millin mill in excess of 12 per ton recent measurements of ore in sight are in excess of tons the company is now drawing up plans for a mill of tons daily capacity superintendent K keating eating estimates that he will be able to mine mille and an mill the ore with total costs and extraction losses of less than per ton the gold ore company is drawing plans h c chic for a mill of 50 tons capacity on it 1 is work is to start early in january reported that the company has a fund fu of an a d about on hand for equipment of development several thousand tons ore sent to the gold road mill gave re turns averaging 20 per ton closing of the mill however left the company with no 4 outlet for its ore and work was suspended pending the solution of its milling problems the nellie after having cut off the water from the foot level has resumed sinking the shaft is now cutting through the vein and several feet of pay ore has already been encountered the vein lies at an angle of about 45 degrees so the shaft proves to be as much of a crosscut as did the lateral from the foot level which showed more than twelve feet of ore averaging from 12 to 17 per ton lateral work will probably not be resumed until a depth of feet has been reached other properties of district the adams is now crosscutting on the foot level and it is believed by the operators that the vein will be tapped within forty feet formation is very encouraging the pictured rock has resumed sinking 1 and the shaft will be carried from the old foot level to at least feet depth before further lateral work is anticipated A splendid vein was vas developed on the to some extent but as this was a zone of intense leaching greater depth was deemed necessary united north northern ern continues drifting operations on the foot level an enormous vein was crosscut on this level and drifting operations are now reported to be showing slowly increasing values and less evidence of intense leaching oatman united is steadily driving its three compartment shaft downward a depth of about feet being now recorded near the surface the shaft penetrated a vein which dipped to the south it is now cutting into a vein which appears to be of considerable size which dips to the north A number of engineers have estimated that the northerly strike of the big jim vein carries it out of big jim and into oatman united ground adjoining As the big jim at shallow depth dipped to the south and then at depth back to the north on account of a sharp fold the fact that the oatman is cutting such a folded formation for maion is united is cutting such a folded formation is theory and they expect later developments to show that the oatman shaft is now actually cutting the big jim ve n engineer J K turner is said to share this belief the and oatman southern companies have resumed operation after an extended suspension while it is expect ed that esperanza fessenden gold range telluride and argo will resume about the I 1 first of january |
