Show the united ted eastern shi api ng BY WILLIAM P DEWOLF Oat oatman maii arizona august 9 august first was made epo epochal clial in the tom reed gold road mining district by the initial shipment of ore from the united eastern mine the bonanza adjoining the tom reed mine on the northwest that has been developed since the first of the current year it was also featured by three mining strikes of importance the first consignment from the united eastern mine consisted of thirty tons of 30 ore and was billed to the gold road mill it marked the beginning of regular shipments of a like tonnage and grade and added another mine to the camps list of producers will ship 1000 tons at least 1000 tons of ore will be shipped each month by the united eastern company to the gold road mill this means additional gold shipments from the camp having a value of per month in other words the monthly gold shipments from the tom reed gold road district from the first of august on will have a value of as against a value of during previous months the output of the tom reed mine for july was about tons of ore from which was reclaimed and sent to mint worth of gold the output of the gold cold road nine mine for july was approximately tons of ore the bullion shipments made last month by the goad road company had a total value of interview with long managing director george W long of the fhe united eastern mine gave me the following inte interview arview regarding ore shipments from the property zi the united eastern mining company sent its first shipment of ore to mill on august first ore shipments for the current month will aggregate about 1000 tons of an average value of approximately 30 per ton all ore shipped to date was mined during the progress of development work on the and foot levels our future ore shipments will be drawn from the same levels as the drifts are advanced in the vein no ore other than that mined in the ordinary course of mine development will be sent to mill until such time as the united easterne Ea sterns reduction plant is in operation era tion thereafter we will draw upon the ore reserves now being blocked out 2000 tons on dump we have about 2000 tons of very profitable grade milling ore on the dump and this tonnage is being added to each day we are breaking about 2000 tons of ore per month as development work progresses and as we are shipping not to exceed 1000 tons per month our dump tonnage is increasing at the rate of 1000 tons per month the west drift on the foot level has at this time a length of feet and the east drift on the foot level a length of feet which gives us a total length of feet in the ore shoot the face of each drift is filled with ore and presents no indications of a narrowing of the shoot A trio of strikes the mines of the district bun bunched clied their strikes the current week a strike in mining parla parlance ilce being equivalent to a lilt hit in baseball nomenclature and made a score of three in the following batting order oatman G M M co high grade mw mill ing ore at a depth of eighty five feet tom reed high grade ore in the olla oatman workings gold road body of 20 ore at a depth of feet either of these strikes is of more than ordinary importance and collectively they will have a beneficial effect upon the local mining industry as a whole vein in shaft at a depth of eighty five feet in the main shaft on the estate of the oatman catman gold mining and milling company a vein has been cut on its dip of 85 degrees to the northeast it samples to a profitable milling average and is widening as the shaft is deepened the quartz shows a little gold in the free and yields a generous string of colors when panned the vein is strong and well mineralized and presents indications of permanency the property of the oatman gold mining and milling company is adjacent to and parallel with the estate of the tom reed company it adjoins the big jim group of the big jim mining company on the northeast aside asid from the importance it has for the owning company the strike in the cat oatman shaft tends to further demonstrate the value of the acreage lying to the south of the ben harrison shaft of the tom reed company olla oatman strike to the northwest of the ben harrison shaft of the tom reed company is located the olla oatman shaft of the same company the trend of the rich tom reed vein system is through the olla oatman claim and thence northwest toward the mohawk group of the big jim company the dike crossing the olla oatman is one of the largest in the camp and has always been viewed with favor as a mining proposition by the owning company and the people of the camp in general eighteen inches of very high grade milling ore is the olla Oat mans contribution to the mining news here the current week the ore is similar to that being mined in the main workings of the tom reed company and is said to be widening as development work progresses free gold in considerable sid erable quantity is associated with the quartz the strike in the olla oatman tends to more thoroughly establish the pre valance of almost continuous gold values along the contact extending from the ben harrison shaft to the double compartment shaft on the estate of the united western mines company strike of 2000 ore over in the gold road section of the district mine development has been stimulated by a strike of 20 ore in the gold road workings the ledge was encountered in the of several feet the importance of ti the ie discovery lies in the possibilities it off offers ers for the mining of pay ore at a much greater depth than the present lowest level in the gold road mine the gold road is the oldest producing mine in the tom reed gold road district record of several million output it has an ail dollars worth of ore most of which was mined in the enormous shoot that has been opened for a length of nearly feet this ore shoot one of the longest over ever discovered lies in the big dike of quartz which parallels the tom reed dike of quartz the latter in turn being paralleled by the nellie black range dike of like mineral characteristics appointed manager A G keating a mining engineer who has supplemented his technical knowledge of ores and mines by practical experience in the mining sections of california and nevada has been appointed manager of the properties of the big jim gold mining company entering upon his duties the first of last week the holdings of the company consist of three groups of claims each being located on the pay belt of the camp the big jim group between the black eagle and ben harrison shafts of the tom reed company the mohawk group between the property of the tom reed company and that of the united western mines company and the octopus group is nearby the pioneer group of the pioneer consolidated mines company manager keating will for the present confine mining operations to the big jim group with the object of opening the extension of the tom reed ledge the same ledge by the way that superintendent dower of the black eagle is crosscutting to at a depth of feet keating informs me a 25 horsepower hoist is on the way here for the big jim shaft and that lie he has ordered a compressor jack hammers and them the other mine equipment essential to the carrying on of an aggressive campaign of development orion is operating after a lapse of several months time while the property was being prospected and sampled and the electrical machinery was overhauled and added to the mine of the orion company is being it will vill require about three weeks of constant pumping to free the workings of water and get them in shape for development work in the meantime manager brush has a force of men employed in clearing away the odds and ends of junk that has accumulated at surface so that everything may be in readiness for extensive operations just as soon as the mine is relieved of its overburden of ha the orion formerly the gold dust is one of the oldest producers in the district and has an output record of several hundred thousand dollars worth of ore it was taken over by the present company some months ago and will doubtless before long again be adding its quota to the gold ship ments from here all ores mined will be reduced in the companas comp anys mill there are about tons of ore in sight in the near surface workings gold road bonanza denver san francisco and local capital represented by frank T has purchased the wild goose group of five claims from joe onetto and partners was formerly a mine operator on an extensive scale in the mining camps of manhattan and round mountain nevada later lie he was prominently identified with the oil and general business interests of the maricopa maricola Mari copa oil field in california the present venture of himself and associates socia tes adjoins the highly productive gold road mine on the south and carries a number of strong and well mineralized ledges one being a spur that makes in from the main gold road ledge the latter has a width of six feet at surface and samples better than 3 per ton the property will be developed by the gold road bonanza mining company the officers and directors of the corporation are frank T president IV W B ross vice president W P de wolf secretary and frank T treasurer directors are F T W B ross W P de wolf E M rogers and B al johnson spanish treasure bonded prominent among the mining deals made here of late is the bonding of the spanish treasure group of claims to william campbell by J E perry 0 D M gaddis and C CM stowe the acreage is located in the silver creek section of the district and is crossed by one of the best defined and boldest dikes in the north end of the camp this dike outcrops to a height of fifty feet passes through treasure ground for a length of feet and in places has a width of more than f feet fred fox and ed carter locators of the ivanhoe property and the dominant factors in the affairs of the ivanhoe consolidated soli dated mines company have the main mail working shaft lowered a depth or of feet and at that level are crosscutting toward the big dike that crosses the acreage for a length of feet fox states that he expects to tap the apex of a shoot on the foot level but that the first real work in the way of proving the shoot will probably be prosecuted at a depth of feet |
