Show GREAT SHOWING IN THE EAGLE AND BLUE BELL by WILL C HIGGINS the writer can well remember some twenty odd years ago when the mining camp of eureka tintic gintic district utah wa hardly more than a straggling street with the nearest railroad point at ironton five miles down the canyon and out in the flat at that time the eureka hill and bul lion beek beck and champion mines were virtually at their best the gemini keystone was hardy bard y more than a prospect although producing some sensationally rich ore at fore his death several years ago he had acquired possession of a number of mining groups favorably located included in the number being the eagle plue flue bell situated just east of and adjoining the cen tennial eureka the eagle B bue ue ben always stood well in the estimation of mr mcchrystal and his old time friends well remember his hig oft repeated assertion that this ground in time would take rank as one of the really great mines of dis victoria consolidated on the east and the chief consolidated on the north the trend of the ore bodies in eagle blue bell ground is northerly and southerly sout lierly and the group is traversed by three parallel veins principal operations at the present time being largely confined to the mammoth grand central victoria ore channel big body of high grade ore the eagle blue bell mine has always held the attention of the mining at the time we speak of john mcchrystal then in all the vigor of middle age and one of the most important and influential man in the district was manager of the eureka hill and also of the gemini keystone no one hardly was more familiar with the history of the c armp mp or its geological conditions and so profoundly was he impressed with the eplen did possibilities of tintic gintic district be brict had he lived to this day lie he would have been gratified at the wonderfully fine showing now being made in this property pro percy and would have had every assurance that his judgment was good and sound and that his prophecy was in a fair way to be fulfilled the eagle blue bell group of fifteen patented claims is almost sur surrounded founded by producers of note it joins the great cen tennial tennia eureka on the west tb the e king william and grand central on the south the 1 l t 1 and this attention and interest has been intensified fied of late by reports of a rieb rich strike made in its underground workings a description of which may well be a source of gratification to minis mining review readers this new development which was inspected a few days ago by the writer in company with general manager imer pett was made on a blind level the 1340 this level wa was S e established after sinking a on a pipe of high grade ore from the 1300 level at a depth of forty feet in this the ore decreased in value and as the raise from th the e 1350 to connect with the was nearly completed it was decided to drive a drift in a southwesterly direction in the hope and expectation 0 of finding ore of higher grade soon after starting this drift the values began to improve and when the strike was made it became a certainty that the aage aag e blue bell had been launched upon a great pro and profit making career the drift from the bottom of the had been run for a distance of forty feet in commercial ore before the big strike was made this body of ore really came as a surprise and the miners were into it almost before they knew it As yet no definite idea has been ascertained as to its magnitude m a at the time of the inspection made by the writer it had been drifted upon for a distance of thirty feet and since then has been driven fifteen feet further and ard raised upon for thirty feet the drift being twelve met feet in width with oro on i both sides and neither r wall in sight the ore is a fine textured quartz and the whole mass as broken down averages abbit bol it 40 gold and 75 ounces in silver to the ton toil much of the ore is a sugar quartz acost a most as white as the driven snow alff an i which pulverizes almost as fine as sand in this body of ore there is a zone of about six inches in width that carries values of 60 gold and as high as ounces silver so far as developed deve Toped the new find represents a small fortune in itself how big and large it is no one can even conjecture as it is in virgin ground but its strength and evident permanency gives ground for the belief that it will prove to be one of the greatest and richest ore bod bodies es ever encountered in eureka mountain A car of ore from this new source 0 of f wealth was shipped on the and as soon as facilities handling of the ahe ore better cili ties for the are provided the management will be sending out three or four cars a week from the new find in ore extraction the product is dropped down the to the 1350 level and conveyed veledin in mine cars t to 0 the shaft and raised to the surface to prove the size and extent of the new find a crosscut cross cut is being driven south from the 1350 while another crosscut cross cut is being run west from the 1300 it being expected that this upper drift will reach a point directly over the new discovery A ta
