Show STRIKE IN ATLANTA manager K M simpson of the atlan atlanta ta mines company operating at goldfield nevada has issued the following statement regarding recent strikes in that property cc A crosscut has been run in a southwesterly direction a distance of feet from the shaft of the goldfield merger mines company into the union jack claim of the atlanta mines company it crosses the sideline of the union jack claim at a point feet from the shaft this crosscut up to the atlanta line is entirely in shale from that point the crosscut was run feet into the union jack claim encountering the contact between the shale and where only low scattering values were obtained the crosscut was extended feet beyond the contact and revealed various mineralized streaks of quartz carrying copper gold and silver at that point it struck the vein on the hanging wall side at an oblique angle the crosscut was turned to run at right angles to the vein which strikes north and south and dips to the east at an angle of 45 degrees the first seven feet of vein matter on the hanging wall side averages by car samples from 3 to 10 a ton and contains some ore of the value of 50 a ton the next five feet of the vein is heavy sulphide ore which averages 27 a ton the values being distributed approximately as follows gold 6 silver copper 9 per cent the sorted assays essays 50 a ton the crosscut is being continued as no has been exposed at present the crosscut has penetrated penetrate a the vein for a distance of twelve feet |
