Show THE BUCK BUCKEYE EYE B E LMONT BELMONT special correspondence To nevada november 19 the north crosscut on the 1200 foot level of the buckeye delmont belmont has been extended feet from the shaft at which point a turn was made each way the west to follow one side line a distance of feet to the east end lines of the belmont property the drift or crosscut is crosscutting the strike of the formations at an angle of about 30 degrees and has crossed a number of stringers of ore varying from two inches to ten inches in thickness some of them carrying pretty fair values the direction of lateral work causes the work to follow stringers tor for a while which they have passed through owing to the angle at wh ch they are being cut property lines compel this work to be done in this manner to protect a wedge shaped piece of ground which is heavily mineralized and may be with rich ore from any of the three adjoining properties that adjoin the wedge the work in this wedge ground is of secondary importance and they use ilse this working face for any extra shifts or when a drill would otherwise be idle etc and figure to develop the ore before it could be reached from any other mine though the working of the drills and the blasting in the halifax and belmont m nines nes are distinctly heard in this drift the east cast drift followed the property lines for a couple of hundred feet where it encountered the hanging wall side of a big S low grade vein of quartz ore the vein dipped aped to the north and trends or strikes 32 degrees south of a true east line at this s point the drift was swung to follow the hanging anding wall contact and is now being con tinned with all speed it is expected that good values will open up here before long and in the meantime a crosscut cross cut will be run over to the foot wall side of the vein and a drift started there following the foot wall the south crosscut has been extended feet southeast from the shaft and has crossed a number of excellent streaks of ore and passed through a number of bunches of quartz that were well mineralized it appears that a great may lay in this direction the stringers and streaks and bunches of quartz that have been opened during the feet are from a fault plane wh ch has had a southward throw on the east side of the plane and a north movement of the west side and the development has thus far been along the west side of the fault it is not proven but possible that the east drift which has been swung southeast is driving pretty close to the fault line on the opposite side of the fault |
