Show THE JEFFREY GRIFFITH DUMP WRITTEN FOR THE MINING REVIEW the jeff jeffrey rey griffith patented dump shown herewith is one which has recently been developed As a crossover cross over dump it possesses features which make the dumping or flow of the coal almost continuous in its over the dump 0 0 1 0 in PIT aig 1 diagram of the dump in plan and section while this dump is guaranteed to have greater cap capacity acety than is pbs possible sible to obtain fro from in other crossover cross over du dumps fil ps it itis is als also 0 o a fat fat that it has 50 per cent fewer parts 7 ea P W A fig 3 shows the car dumping of two continuous hails to which are attached substantial horns horn s securely fastened to a heavy shaft this shaft has a bell crank and quadrant with spring device securely attached to t 0 the one end while at the other end is located a a brake wheel and lever device for releasing the car after discharging its coal in operation the cars pass over the knuckle as in illustration no 2 the jar being absorbed by the spring automatically the car assumes the dumping position no 3 which is almost simultaneous with position no 2 after the coal is discharged the car is i released by mea means n of a lever the only work of the operator which li allows it to pass over the track as s in illustration no 4 by depressing the horns which automatically resume position for the next car this is done by means of the spring which is of sufficient strength to bring the horns into the receiving position together with the rotating action of quadrant by gravity ten cars may be discharged over this dump per minute so so that its capacity is only limited by the activity of the man required in its operation its continuous rails make stoppage of operation due to derailment of oars cars an impossibility and also insures less breakage of coal and less wear and tear on cars its simplicity of design operation and capacity make it most moist desirable for large as well as small mines its large dumping capacity is due to the quick and continuous action of the dump shorter movement of the cars and the increased safety in bringing dg loaded cars close to the dumping position this is the only dump where the car maintains continuously its natural position throughout the operation there is no break or hinge in the tracks brachs to cause derailment of cars and blocking of the coal consequent thereto As this dump occupies less space than other crossover cross over dumps the cost of tipple building to house same is correspondingly reduced less help is required because of simplicity and ease of control AW WW fig 4 shows position of dump and oar after releasing C fig 2 shows the oar car entering |
