Show THE ELY GOLDFIELD ROAD record ely nev the lindof line of the ely goldfield road was last week permanently located from ely west as far as preston in white river valley from which point the line will veer westward toward currant creek during the present week the camp of the engineers was moved from preston to the summit of the range this side of currant creek and from that point the engineers will work back to preston and will maka the connection within two or three weeks another party of surveyors are working from the summit of the range down currant creek westward and will soon make connection with the party running west from tybo the survey follows the awley immele abely west and south of the giroux to preston and is void of heavy grades from the time it enters the valley it is an ideal route by far preferable to the old survey made about two years ago which followed along the foothills it is reasonably assured that a station will be put in at preston which will be a great convenience to the entire white river valley the entire survey of the line will be completed within two or three weeks after which estimates on construction will be made and contracts will be let the record has trustworthy information that dirt will be flying by october |
