Show the sevier consolidated mine of gold M mountain buntain 0 by WILL C HIGGINS i it is not so many years ago that a great t deal adeal of interest was centered in the new gold discoveries made in gold mountain dis r brict in piute diute county utah and it is not necessary tor for the prospector and claim holder to do much talking in order to convince the experienced min mieng ng man that here was a region so prolific in its deposits of the precious met als that a little intelligent development under the direction of practical men was all that was necessary to give to the world several great producers of imperishable wealth and more nowhere in the dihe mining west did there exist a section so favorable to mining operations where water was so abundant and where the s canyons and mountain tops were cov ered with heavy timber where a few miles of wagon road on a downhill down hill pull M I 1 connected with a branch of one of the leading railroads of 00 the west the den ver ra circulate in mining circles in the east heavy capital began seeking investment in this new and promising camp and it was not long before three big enter arises were launched tor for the purpose 04 operating and developing an equal number of groups embracing some of the choicest ground to bea found in the district 0 charlie lammersdorf Lam the veteran mining operator took the lead with the sevier mine james long jr followed suit with the mammoth and the annief ann laurie last but not least began operations which resulted in the payment of in dividends before conditions condi tons including the death of the late peter kimberly caused a cessation of work which led to the sale of the property and of the company under a different name and title and the sevier like the annie anne production of sensational ore ore calculated to attract the at tenton of the high grader while in its underground workings there exist such large bodies of milling ore that many mines in many other camps would seem small in comparison As a matter of fact there are no better showings to be found anywhere than in the sevier mine cropping strongly above the surface imposing in th their e I 1 r magnitude there are large fissure veins values in gold and silver while at the contacts of the many evany different rock formations there are other veins which are rich in their metallic contents history of the sevier the sevier was located by charles lam mer adorf in the early and a year later S r mr air lammersdorf Lam erected the first mill in the district the equipment of which embraced ten pound stamps below which were were placed copper plates for the recovery of gold and silver later on two to concentrating tables were added to the plant another addition still later being an old style medium of the courts the property of the company was placed in the hands of a receiver and in the sale following it was sold to the salt lake hardware company one of the creditors of the sevier
