Show ARIZONA phoenix mining journal the tube city mining milling company owning the old jackrabbit Jack rabbit mine twenty two miles south of casa grande is now installing a prescott high 13 duty trip triple e expansion pump having a pumping capacity of 1000 gallons a minute against a 1000 foot head the main shaft at the mine is feet deep with a heavy flow of water and when this pumping plant has been installed the shaft will be continued to the 1000 foot level E R zimmerman is superintend superintendent ten dent of the property phoenix mining journal it is understood on reliable authority that a most important discovery of high grade ore has recently been made in the vulture mine near wickenburg on the foot level what is known as the old blue lead has been opened up by angus mckay from the old wo workings ekings where it had faulted and a fine body of high grade ore is now being explored the blue lead was responsible for most of the rich ore extracted from the mine in the early days and the faulting of this vein and the inability to locate it caused the closing down of the mine its rediscovery adds enormously to the value of the mine ning is now seven to eight feet in a body of well mineralized quartz and at last reports they were still not through the quartz boulder miner M J crandall representing denver associates met last monday the directors of the metal mining association and mine operators from various parts of the county to consider the building of a large custom cyanide mill here mr crandall and his associates 1 upon assurance 01 ol a steady supply of at least seventy five tons daily propose to build a modern cyanide mill which will treat the telluride ores of the county for a minimum charge of 4 per ton including assaying and sampling lake city phonograph while prospecting the roof of the tunnel in the lower nellie M workings about seventy five feet back of the crosscut station brint ramsey opened up a fine streak of ore two feet wide some of the mineral assayed over 1100 ounces in silver and the average of the two feet gave a value oi of per ton there is also a good percentage of copper one sample running 20 per cent the drift is being extended rapidly abdat and at the present rate of progress a point directly under the old workings will soon be reached boulder herald from present indications work will be resumed within a short time on the callio calliope e mine north of town the property has been closed down for some weeks on account of the death of one of the main stockholders in the enterprise willard rowland howland who has charge of the estate of the deceased was an arrival tuesday of this week and has visited the property and looked into the affairs of the mining company in general it is understood that he is very well pleased with the prospects in the development of the mine and some arrangement will be made within the next few weeks to start operations with tim manion in chare I 1 leadville herald democrat horrigan brothers continue to produce high grade ore from the highland mary and bobby burns claims on breece hill they have a vein seven feet wide from which they are making regular shipments the second class ore from this streak will be sent to the local smelter the output averaging fifty tons per day much bismuth is contained in this material and they have been engaged in sorting it out the yards shaft house bins and other buildings have been piled full of bismuth bre ore they have been unable to find a market for it but expect to be able to sell it soon the second grade carries about five ounces in gold this is about the same grade of ore that was struck near the grass roots when the highland mary was first opened last summer the plant ha hats s been well equipped with machinery and every facility is now at hand for taking care of the production |
