Show THE B W H reaper richfield utah A strike has been reported at the B W H mine which will bring joy to the stockholders of that property manager A R hawley was at the mine on sunday gunday and he brought samples of the ore from the recent strike which looks like the real thing in ore bearing gold and silver the strike was made ten days ago but nothing has been said to the general public about it as the company wanted to be sure that the vein veil was of some extent before making the matter public the tunnel which was started several years ago pierces the hill at feet when it bears to the left at quite a sharp angle for a short distance here is where the ore was struck a few years ago which created a furore among the mining men in this vicinity A shaft was sunk on the ore a depth of feet and the bottom of the shaft still has ore but the vein grew narrower with depth and work was finally stopped on the shaft the vein of ore was then followed along the line of the tunnel and again it continued to decrease in volume until at a distance of feet from the mouth of the tunnel the ore had dwindled to small stringers mr hawley visited the property a few weeks ago and he decided to come back to the point in the main tunnel where the shaft was sunk and follow the ore out towards the face of the hill he started two men to work and when ten feet had been driven ore appeared and this continued to enlarge until the vein in places got to be nearly three feet wide the ore is of the same character that characterized the ore in the shaft and it bears both gold and silver when this vein was uncovered samples were immediately sent to be assayed and the returns show the ore to be worth over 30 per ton only two men are employed at the mine at present but more men will be put to work within the next few days some of the ore is being brought out of the mine to the dump but no shipment is contemplated at present manager hawley is in good spirits over the strike and the returns are fully up to his expectations he says the ore is lying loose between the porphyry walls and it can be picked out without the process of blasting in places the vein narrows to le less s s than a foot in width but it increases again a t aln until nearly 36 inches of good ore can be dug out jt it is the most important strike that has been made on the prop property efty and the stockholders and officers are to be congratulated on this measure of success that has attended their efforts |
