Show Business Deals Retarded , by Paternalism and Taxes There have been frequent statements state-ments from business leaders explaining ex-plaining that business expansion and employment have been retarded by uncertainty as to how far the federal government - has gone, or may go, Into competition with private pri-vate business. Another fear expressed ex-pressed was as to the effect on business busi-ness of various items of legislation particularly with relation to taxes. The following paragraph from a purchasing order by a large western west-ern contracting Arm shows bow these uncertainties operate on the very-day business transaction: "Seller agrees to indemnify and aave buyer harmless, and to assume full responsibility for payment of all state and federal taxes for unemployment un-employment Insurance, old age pensions, pen-sions, or any other social security legislation as to all employees engaged en-gaged In the performance of this contract, and further agrees to meet all requirements that may be specified in regulations now or hereafter here-after promulgated from time to time by administrative officials." |
