FREMONT CI CLUB CB IS COMING Organization From Prom Independence Mo Will Visit Salt lake on long Trip The Fremont club of Independence Mo Moin MoIn Moin in a S special train will reach Salt Lake about Sept 1 on a trip across the con continent continent Uncut following as a nearly as possible the route of the distinguished d explorer from whom the club takes its name The club was organized on Aug 4 of this year y r by C F Wilcox th the son of Gen Gee Lewis Allen Wilcox the friend and com corn companion companion panion of Fremont at the recruiting sta eta station station tion used by Fremont for his hla western expeditions of exploration The purpose of the club Is to collect all avail available available available able material relative to west western ern era expeditions and to secure views and data relative to the development of the sections first visited by b Fremont For this purpose an excursion from St Joseph Mo to Seattle Including visits to Fre Fm monts peak in Wyoming and Fremont Island In Great Salt lake is planned General John C Fremont first visited Great Salt lake In 1542 and gave to the world the first authentic account of Amt Amer Americas Or OrIcas leas dead sea He was probably the first white man who had ever navigated Great Salt lake In a frail trail bark he sailed over the lake and explored several of Its Islands Islands islands ands Later after atter he became permanently located in California he was a frequent visitor to Utah
