Show NIGHT OF SONG AND STORY Entertainers From Prom the Banks and Braes of Bonnie Scot Scotland II land 1 nd The Y iI M C A auditorium was filled to overflowing last evening the te t e occa occasion occasion sion Zion being baIng tho the entertainment by Miss Nannie Strachan and Gavin Spence un der the auspices of the Salt Lake This tle tie Social club Mr Gavin and Miss Strachan are as their lr names imply Scotch and their en is as thoroughly Scotch as they are themselves Songs both senti sent sentimental sentimental mental and humorous the pipes and graceful Scottish dances contributed to toan toan toan an evening which it is safe sale to say will live long in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to attend Gavin Spence is a man who has tray trav tra and observed and some of tho the ac ae accounts accounts counts of his experiences are arc both in and amusing In to his ability as a lecturer he is gifted with a voice of unusual richness and melody and a range which is extraordinary Miss Strachan is equally pleasing but the high water mark of enthusiasm was probably reached when the two sang a number of duets ducts in the broad Scotch of their native land Little Miss Craig a native of the land of the thistle who has been in this country countr but three weeks contributed ma to the evenings enjoyment with wit a number of Scottish dances to the ac of the bag pipes pines in the hands of her brother Both these people are artists of recognized ability and many and hearty heart were the encores they the received The audience was thoroughly in SYm pathy with the work of the performers and as a result there not was a dull mo ment from the opening number to the final fall of the curtain |
