| Show MRS RHODA HINMAN AT CHASE FAMILY REUNION at a reunion of the descendants of the late isaac chase held monday october 20 at chase park in centerville Cent erville the guest of lionor honor was his only surviving child P mrs rhoda chase stoddard hinman now in ill her ninetieth year col willard Willar cl young took tile the part of host with miss kate chase as hostess and tile the scores of relatives and invited guests were greeted and at the old farmstead in royal style in tile the spacious dining room a long table was set and the guests were served an all old fashioned chicken dinner with fruits and refreshments fresh ments the fire burned cherril yin two big fireplaces and art an unmistakable air of comfort and congeniality prevailed as the younger generations lived for the time in old pioneer days in tile the memory of aunt rhoda quite a number of her old friends had been invited a as special guests among them being mrs At aurclia irelia S rogers of farmington founder of the primary association mrs mary smith si nith a pioneer of 1848 mrs millie smith p pioneer i boneer of 1847 mrs margaret brandon pioneer of 1847 arid and mrs caroline harris pioneer of 1847 1947 the guests of honor were mrs elizabeth ford president of the south davis stake relief society board mrs emma ford whom the guest of lionor honor has known from the moment of mrs fords birth having been present it was related on that occasion mrs willard young mrs phoebe Y beatie mrs maria Y dougall dougal mr and mrs L 11 bennard mrs effie hanson a granddaughter of mrs hinman I 1 and d herself a grandmother george chase a nephew and all tile the daughters of the late george chase son soft of isaac chase all the younger members member of tile the family and their wives and husbands in three generations were ivere present arid and it was indeed a merry ga gathering mrs hinman favored the guests with a narrative of early days her he r intellect is clear arid and her memory seems seem remarkable she recounted the long tiresome journey across the plains which ended just 71 years ago that night she told of camping there on the old corner and how restful it to sleep next mor morning knowing she did not have to pick up and travel on oil she was a young youn bride as the journey was begun across the plains having been married to judson stoddard in nauvoo the previous fall iler her first child was born at the home of her mother phoebe ogden chase in tile old chase farm house which still stands in liberty park where lie he father isaac chase built and operated tile the primitive grist mill she reared a large family by judson stoddard and after his death site she was in married ar to the late morgan hinman by eliom also she reared a family now in the evening of life she is honored and revered as aunt rhoda or grandma by a host of descendants of the old chase line |
