Show THE MM PURCHASER lumber Companies Protest Against Prosecution of the Land Grant Railways Washington March 12 Protests against a favorable report on the senate resolution directing the attorney gen general general general eral of ot the United States to institute suits to recover title to several hundred thousand acres of ot lands originally granted to railroad companies and espe especially daily the Oregon California Railway company when those companies have failed to observe the conditions under which the grants were issued were made today to the house committee on public lands by western lumbermen lawyers and railroad representatives J W Blodgett a lumberman and a stockholder in the Lumber company of Oregon told the committee that his company had paid for acres of Oregon and California timber land and that suits under the senate resolution resol tion wo ld involve and perhaps destroy his titie tie thereto thus working a great injustice to a wholly innocent party |
