Show TWO YOUNG GIRLS ARE PROMISING ATHLETES Coaches of future "Olympic teams could do worse than look to Bingham Canyon for possible feminine track stars. Judges of Copperfield and Bingham races were surprised to witness the performances of two girls at races rac-es Monday. The prospective "Babe Didrick-sons" Didrick-sons" of tomorrow are Edith Lea-therwood, Lea-therwood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Leatherwood of Copper-field, Copper-field, and Mary Panos, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Panos. Mary ran five races and won first in each. Prizes for the girls 75 yard dash in which girls up to 16 were entered, the free for all for girls up to 16 and the girls races for those 10 to 14 were given Miss Panos. She won first in two other races but was not eligible for the prizes. Mary is thirteen. Edith Leatherwood won first In five Copperfield races, showing her heels to the 17 and 18 year olds. She is eleven. Two years ago Edith won first in a school field day at Copper-ton Copper-ton for all fifth graders In Jordan Jor-dan district, and is reported to have won first place in every race she has entered since her fifth birthday. |
