Show I TYPOS AUXILIARY I CELEBRATES TES BIRTH First Anniversary of Organization tion Commemorated by Grand Ball BallOne BallOne BallOne One year ago on March 30 1909 the Ladles Ladies auxiliary No 16 to the Salt Lake Lal Typographical union was organized and last night the auxiliary observed its first anniversary by a grand ball in I O 0 O 0 F hall tendered to the printers their wives sisters and sweethearts To the tho credit of the members of the Ladles Ladies auxiliary and especially to the members of the com committee committee committee on arrangements great credit is due for the successful social affair Up Upward Upward Upward ward of ot couples were present to dance to tho the strains of ot music furnished by Holds orchestra and it was a jolly crowd which broke up at midnight The hall was decorated in yellow the colors of ot the auxiliary and ribbons of the same color were worn by members of the order At 1030 the night printers were tendered a supper and gen general general general eral social time The ball was opened by bya b ba a grand march led by Mr r and Mrs John Malloy and up until midnight the dancers dancers dancers ers made merry A tempting supper was served during the evening Mrs J C Krier was chairman of ot the committee on arrangements and her as associates associates associates were Mesdames 1 Warren Hilton Oscar F Ball F C Starr Clarence Ross R B A Canine W V Ziegner R F Aveson H K Russell A Thompson and Austin Davis First Printers Union When the Salt Lake Typographical union was organized in 1868 it was named tho the Deseret Typographical union On April 15 1872 1812 the printers held a big fes festival festival festival and a tasty souvenir card was print printed ed a copy of or which was shown at the dance last evening It contained the names of the tho members of ot the union with the list of officers It proved especially interesting to all present last night Officers of the tha Deseret Typographical union in 1872 were President Robert G Sleater vice president Henry McEwan recording secretary John E Evans treasurer Robert Aveson financial secre secretary secretary secretary tary Oscar F Lyons corresponding see sec secretary William Fuller sergeant at arms George G Taylor TIllor executive committee Theodore A Smith William J Collins and Frank In addition to the officers the following were shown by bythe bythe by I the card to be members In good standing T W Abraham W S Cooke W J Col Collier Collier Collier lier W M Cowley J Church H S Coombs F G W Davis C Denny S L Ford W V F Grimsdell M MW MV W iv V Hammond John Isaac S A Kenner L O 0 Littlefield J T McEwan E Mc McMillan McMillan McMillan Millan R Matthews Matthewa J Priestley S Rob Roberts Roberts Roberts erts S M Df Senhouse J Wilson and H HA HA HA A Tarnell with J and J Mc McKnight McKnight Knight as honorary members Of the foregoing members seven are arc still alive four of ot whom are residents of ot Salt Lake These arc Robert G Sleater Robert Hobert Aveson S M 11 Stenhouse and S SA SA SA A Kenner E McMillan of Heber City Sam Roberts of ot Idaho and C Denny of Union are aro the other surviving members The proceeds of ot last nights affair which is the second ball given by the tM auxiliary a since its organization will be devoted towards sending a woman dele gate to the Typographical union grand lodge in Minneapolis this year ear At thIs tills meeting Salt Lake will make a n bid for forthe forthe forthe the 1911 convention |
