introduCed by Gundry of the thc cOmmittee on mines and mIning and amends ds section 2 chapter 1 14 pf Of the laws of 1899 providing for the manner or of locating and recording quartz and placer mining claims The prinCipal amendment to the law lawa lawas a as defred defined In the bi bill provides that within ninety days after the locton location of a claim the locator or his assigns must sink a shaft upon the lode vein or ledge lede at the nearest point of boa ton tion to the depth of at least ten feet teet from the lowest lowest part of the rim of such shaf shaft nt at the surface or a driven not less than ten feet and of not less bess than sixteen square feet area I It also provides Ay Any excavation whIch shall cut such lode vein or lele ten feet from the lowet lowest part of the rim of such shaft and which shall measure one hundred and sixty cUbiC feet in extent shall be considered a compliance wih with these provisions any clai claim located upon which work has not ben been done In compliance wih with the above requirements is subject to tion after a period of ninety ty days from om and after the date of posting the final notice and the equivalent of such work In amount
