CROWDS OF SHOPPERS Several Policemen Kept Busy Dusy in the theR R Retail tail District Christmas shoppers were out in full force yesterday afternoon and evening and two tO pOlicemen were kept busy at Second South and Main streets cearIng the crossing and keeping them from con congesting gesting the traffIc Everybody was car carrying bundles under each arm and some had loads of toys on their shoulders The crowds were cre thickest at S SOuth and Main streets and although they pushed and trampled on each others feet they were and tOol the crowding as part of the shopping pro ramme Man Many complaints of lost lest parcels and also children were reported to the police pollee and several extra pOlice were on duty Two or three children were picked d tp tip and brought to the station holding on to toys and crying for their mothers The They were nil all claimed however and are a ret lost parcels were recovered
