Show Mine Blackmailers. Dry Canon, July I'.Uh, 1577. Editors Herald: This camp ia mles'ed by a set ot individual whom I will t?rm "blond suckers," who make a precarious living by blackmailing. Men who are endeavoring to promote the mining min-ing interests of thit district by wurk-ing, wurk-ing, bonding and leasing property, are set upon by this clique with mime-thing mime-thing like the following : "This claim is on our ground; ours is tbe oldest location on (he hill; il you strike a body of ore w will serve restraining order and kt-ep y u lrom shipping;" and finally they oll'rr to sell you their claim "dirt cneap," with the comforting asauranun that after you have bought them uut you will own the whole country. It is jiiBt Buch men as these who keep out capital and otherwise injure the camp. If they want tu sell their prospects I would recommend them lu encourage rather than discourage men of means in going uhead and making developments. I hope some of tbo "gentlemen" reierreu to will see thia letter and profit by it in future. O. P. T. |
