The occasional loiterer in the northern portion of this city has for many year-i feast t-d his eyes on the architectural architec-tural beauty of that antique old ruin known as Findley's Castle. Alas .' the rude hand of tho artisan id even now flinging the sun-dried brii-ks which compose its w;.lls to the ground, regardless of the fact that tender memories cling around its ghost-haunted walla, and that they are now destroying the link which connects us with an ago long p.i,t and gone. Like tl.c hiaiiic.l dm of h.l Hub of the universe, it will soon be forgotten. Even the artificial lake, which once ornamented the grounds in front of the mansion, will speedily be filled up by the destroyer who has lately come into possession of this once grand palace home of the house of Findley. Next in order ofdemoli-tion ofdemoli-tion will be the penitentiary, and, then, who is there here that does not want to be laid away in his little bed? |
