Show AU ORDINANCE Licensing and Regulating Plumbers, ami for Other Purposes. Pur-poses. Section 1. Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, that no plumber shall lay any service pipe or do any kiud of plumbing plumb-ing work, connected, or to be connected, con-nected, with the Salt Lake City Water Works, uule he i licenseU avA givc3 bonds us hereinafter provided. pro-vided. Sec. 2. Application for a plumber's plumb-er's license shall be made inw:iting to the Mayur, and upon payment to the City Treasurer of a yearly license fee of five dollars, and giving a bond with approved security, to the acceptance accept-ance of the Mayor, in the penal sum of five hundred dollars, conditioned for the laitb ful observance of the ordinances, rules and regulations, relating to the Salt Lake City Water Works, the Mayor is authorized to license buc'u applicant, which license shall be issued and registered in the same manner as other licenses. Sec. 3. No plumber Bhall make an extension of any pipe or water fixture attached to the water supply, for the purpose of conducting water to any other part of the same building build-ing or adjoining premises, for any purpose whatever, without first obtaining ob-taining a permit therefor from the Superintendent of Water Works; and plumbers, upon completing "any plumbing work csnuected, or to be connected with the water works, shall, within twenty-four hours, report re-port the samo to said Superintendent. Sec. L No stop or draw cocks shall bo used in connection with the water works where the opening for water is over a quarter of an inch in diameter, except the kind known as compression cocks. Slide valves may bo used to fill railroad or other tanks when a waste is not wanted, and where the pipes are thoroughly protected from frost; also for hose connections, or wbero a separate sep-arate waste is used. Sec. 5. No telegraph polo, hitching hitch-ing or other post shall be set nearer than six feet to any gas main or service ser-vice pipe; nor shall any water service be laid within six feet of any gas service; and no gs or water service trench in any street, alley or sidewalk side-walk shall be left open during the night. Sec. 6. Any person violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance, or of the ordinances, rules and regulations, regula-tions, relating to the introduction, Btipply and consumption of water from the Salt Lake City Water Works, shall, upon conviction, pay a fin.; not to exceed one hundred dollars for each odence; aud il the oflender be a liceused plumber ho shall, in addition addi-tion to such fine, forfeit his license, which shall not be renewed for a term of thirty days.
