Show Fire. A cottage residence on the State road, south of Washington square, unaccountably caught fire last night and was burned to the ground, the adobe walls of a portion of the building build-ing aloue remaining standing. The property is owned by Mr. George Stuart, who is at present residing at Malad. It was occupied by Mr. Bruce and family, all of whom escaped. es-caped. The household goods were also saved, some of the articles, however, being damaged. The firemen had considerable con-siderable difficulty in moving their engin'-s and hose cares through the deep an .w tu the scene of the flro, yet the boys pulled the machines dawn and were early prepared to work, but there was no water io'tho ditchc.5, hence they were powerless in thai respect. However, the firemen, willi others, turned to and lore down a porlion of the burning building, thus elaying the spread of the fire Other houses in the immediate vicinity vicin-ity wer in imminent danger, but the roofs b-ing covered with sniw prevented pre-vented the sparks from igniLin. The loss will be several hundred dollars. . |
