Such a bargain, tho Times thinks, might bo eftectcd, but tho procoss would be disgraceful to all connected with it. - The Times is especially emphatic in Us denunciations denuncia-tions of tho subsidy schemes for the Southern licUc railroads, which have the support of one member of the cabinet and trusted friend of tho president. It does not credit the report that tho president favors these projects, and opposes any bnrgaiiiB whereby, in consideration of votes on one aide, subsidies are to bo conceded on the other. |
