A leading grain circular cir-cular saya : The upward movement in wheat occasioned by the outbreak of war appears to be checked for the present, the great advanco obtained to Tuesday having caused buyers to act with reserve, and investors showing show-ing soma anxiety to realize profits, prices for the past few days have been irregular, and about two or three shillings per quarter of the extreme advance was lost at most of the markets held in this interval. The trade since Tuesday has been or. a much reduced scale, and where sales of wheat have ben pressed it haa been neceisary to make a concession 'of fivepence to sixpence per cental. Maise has been pressed at a decline ot fully one ahiliing per quarter. At this market to-day there whs a fair advance and an improved demand for wheat, the maket epeuing at five-peace five-peace to sixpence per cental under Tuesday'a curtencies, but closing strong at threepence decline. J? lour was steady; maize declined two shillings shil-lings per quarter, but closed with an upward tendency. |
