Show A Miner's Cumplain . Salt Lake City, July 19lu, 1S76. Editors Herald ; Not wishing to inlringe upon your valuable time or paper, I will be very brief with what I have to say. Knowing Know-ing as I well do that you are always willing to publish anything that wil' interest the miners of this country, I wish to ask you a question, namely: How is it that a miner working at any of the mines in Bingham or elsewhere, else-where, when he quits working for that compauy must wait three or four days for his pay, the company mak ing him pay tor hia board while waiting wait-ing lor them to pay him for his labor? Is not the company to blame, aud not tho man? I say that the company should keep funds on hand, aud a man at their mine to pay ofl'any man that quits. Instead of that, ho may come to the city and stay, and they telegraph or him to come, and he will come when he gets ready, and the man that is waiting for his pay, is charged for his board by the company he has worked for, when in reality he should receive his lull pay while waiting for them to pay him oft. Ho is not to blame if the company has not got funds to pay. He should at least be i allowed his board free by the com- ' pany while waiting for hat they owe him. The pay clerk is always gala-vanting gala-vanting around the city when he should be at his post at the mine. Hoping you will publish this for the benefit of those interested. I am, sir, very respectfully, G. W. M. |
