Letters were received re-ceived hero to-day from Albany and Saratoga detailing the circumsiancpB ol the interview between Tilden and Hendricks at Saratoga, and even democrats here confess that Tilden i cannot write such a letter of accept- 1 ance as he desires to and have Hendricks Hend-ricks for a partner. Hendricks has said that if Tilden expresses himself honestly for hard money ho will decline de-cline the nomination, and otlWid many of his best friends and supporters sup-porters if he does not make a positive declaration in favor of hard money. There is a great deal of concern here among democratic leaders on account of theoe differences, and both candidates candi-dates are being appealed to to compromise. com-promise. The Tribune New f York special says: Later information froai Saratoga Sara-toga shsws the irreconcilable difference differ-ence between Tilden and Hendricks. Among those consulted were Isaac Sherman, David Wells and Parke Goodwin, who have been urgiut Tilden to make a bold strike for b:ird money and to step oulaide of the platform and pronounce for early resumption, and he, Welts and Sherman Sher-man have brought Tilden almost to believe it. Hendricks was diegusted almost with Ihiu sort ot talk, and it is said high words passed between he and Sherman. Sherman told Hendricks Hend-ricks that uuless Tilden cut en'ireiy loose from him, and outbid Hayes on the currency question, Til-Jeu and he would be beaten as badly as Greeley and Brown. |
