Show Secoh Robeson's Riches. It is reported re-ported in Wall street that when Secretary Sec-retary Robeson went into office, he borowed $1,000 to make a presentable appearance, and that to day he is worth not less than $2,000,000. It is the firm belief of those who know what they are talking about, that millions upon millions have been squandered upon fivorites by the navy department ever since the commencment of the war, and that the squandering or plundering is still in pleasaut operation. Let me cite briefly one case: A. contractor con-tractor who has had hold of the navy teat for years, and who, two years ago, lived in a $7,000 residence, now lives in one that cost, with its surroundings, surround-ings, $2o,000. The place was built for himself by days' work, and was nearly three years in course of erection. The furniture fur-niture in it came partly from Paris, and cost 50,000. The stable, built near the residence, is valued at $20,-000. $20,-000. But this is not all. Sid contractor, iu addition to the above, has become the owlier, since his connection with the navy department, of hundreds of acres of laud and valuable build ings and stores, which ho had either erected or purchased. Indeed, he is racked as the wealthiest man in the country in which he resides, and that is not an hour's distance from the city. These are the facts, and they carry their own comments.
