O. Butler But-ler as senator from South Carolina. Davis of Illinois, Conover and Patterson Patter-son voted with the democrats in tho negative. The question then being on the adoption o( the resolution. Edmunds moved to amend the reso lution so as to discharge the committee commit-tee Irom further consideration of tho credentials of Kellogg as senator from Louieiuna, inetead of M. C. Butler aa senator from South Carolina. Upon this motion debato followed. Tho motion was rejected yeaa, 30; nays, 31.
