Tho hill introduced intro-duced iu the si-oat'' by H.irgeiit and in tho ho'.HC by Piper, amendatory ol theeilvT coinage law, provides for tho coinage of a new nilver dollur, equal in weight and value to two of tho nresent hiiver half dollars, and proposes to make it a lecal tender tor amounts not exceeding 20. The bill abolishes the existing I'gal tendor prevision regarding trade dollar. It also provides that nilver ball dollars ahull be a legal tender lor all amounts not to exceed $10, and that the government gov-ernment shall replace, without loos to the holder, all alu-ndcd silver come. The new nilver dollar is to bo coined on government account only. |
