Show Ethan Allen, chairman of the national committee of liberal republic cans, has published a letter, in which he asks the advice of the independent press in regard to the desirability ot holding a national liberal republican convention. He says there is a sur-, prising unanimity of opinion among the liberals and independents in the suggestion of four names aa suitable, for tho reform nomination, viz.: Bristow, Adams, Davis, and Trumbull. Trum-bull. But Washburne, Hayes, and Tilden are now and then commended. It is evident that the old parties will have none of these, but will continue to be run by the machine politicians. The liberal republican general committee com-mittee of New York, however, have held a meeting and expiessed a disposition dispo-sition to unite with the regular republican repub-lican party at the Cincinnati national convention. |
