New York, 13, Many of thoe who were at the reception of the Manhattan club last evening, assembled assem-bled at ihe Fifth Avenue hotel to day to bid farewell to Gov, Hendricks and wile, prior to their departure for Europe in the steamer Scythia. Among tueui were ex-oov. lUUen, Lieutenant Governor Dersheimer, Augustus Suhell, John Kelly and wife, S. S. Cox and wife, ex Governor John T, Hotlman, George Ticknor Curds, Abrani S. Hewitt, Col. Pelton and wife, Joaquin Miller, Feruan :o Wood, Hiester Clymer, Gordon W. Burnham, Edward Cooper, Wm. Beach Lawrence of Kbode Island. Surrogate Calvin, ex Mayor Wickhaui aud Senator Kernan. On account of the ebbtide in ihe afternoon the Scythia lay off Bedloe'a ialaml, whero passengers were taken on board. There was do demonstration demonstra-tion upon the arrival of the ex-gover nor and party. When the party reached the steam or they went first to inspect the table. A large bed of roses, on which were tbo words "Bon oyage," sent by Wm. Van Wyck aud Willis S. Paine, was placed" by their seats at the first table. At 4 o'ciock a revenue cutter came along 1 side the Scythm, with Collector Arthur aud Tnomua Murphy on board. After the usual demonstrations of respect and good-bye ware given, tlie cutter returned and the cyihia steamed down the bay. i |
