Show PK.'OHESS OF THE COUNT, There were Hying rumors on Sunday Sun-day of a threatened break-up of the electoral commission by the refusal of iti democratic members to proceed with their labors on account of the partisan leanings displayed by tho republican re-publican members, more especially by tho three republican justices of the supremo court. These rumors appear ap-pear to have bad no foundation save iu tlio imaginations of some excited ; parsons. It is evident that nothing is J to be gained by such a proceedure, wero it possible even that Messrs. CiilbrJ and Field could bring themselves them-selves to suou a conclusion. The iaw 1 Will doubtless bo fully carried out, as it should be to the bitter or sweet end, most likely the former to the democrats, demo-crats, though it is not easy to see how by any other than a purely partisan determination Mr. Hayes can be allowed the Watts elector in Oregon, or indeed ho-.v the commission can avoid tho investigation of the point of tlio legality ot the canvassing board of Louisiana uuder the law of the state. In regard to Louisiana the rci'.ut will soon ba known, and after that agony has passed only. the Oregon case wiil remaiu to be settled. It is possible that the entire vote may be uotiutsd and the result declared "during "dur-ing the present week. |
