Show The Alleged Railroad Comblu-ulleu. Comblu-ulleu. Baltimore, 2. In order to correct the mischievous effects of incorrect statements that havo been made as to a combination of the Erie, New Yoik Central and Pennsylvania railroad companies in opposition to the Baltimore Balti-more and Ohio, the following dispatch from President Scott is published: Philadelphia, April 2, 1S77. To John W. Garrell, president, Baltimore. Balti-more. I notice in somo papers astatement that the two New York lines and Pennsylvania road had entered into a combination on Saturday, oflensive and defensive, against your road, all' of which you have the best of reasons for knowing is of course without any foundation whatever. (Signed) Thomas A. Scott. President. President Garrett states that all allegations of bad faith against the Baltimore and Ohio company are equally without foundation, and that this comoany can clearly demonstrate that its action has throughout, under tho agreement of December, been iust and proper. The Baltimore and Ohio company has been and continues to be not only willing but desirous to advauce rates to a remunerative standard, and to arrange and maintain main-tain all tariffs upon perfectly just and equitable principles, such as will no doubt meet with general approval. It is understood that Garrett left for New York this evening. |
