This matter forces itself upon m. Tlio prisoners are our follow bi ngs, and not-withitanding not-withitanding their gonoral degraded on-di on-di Lion , it becomes our duty as a city government gov-ernment to mako noeeisa-y provisions to meet the emergency. Wo therefore recommend that tho comniitUe on improvements, associated with tho mayor, bo instructed to proceed forthwith to prepare such plans and specitiuations as tbey may deom necessary neces-sary to carry out tho recommendations herein sal forth. The report waa referred to the special committee and the standing committee on improvements. Tho committee on improvements to whom was referred the matter of examining ex-amining entrances to cellars, reported tiiat many buildings were so constructed con-structed as to prevent the ordinance in relation to cellar entraucea being complied with. The committee re commended that the ordinance be changed, and that the marshal be in. strucled to enforce the law in regard to gates being placed on fatreet entrances en-trances to basements. The report was adopted and referred to the com miltee on municipal laws. The committee on claims to whom was refsrred the petition of li. W. Crane, asking that $27.50 paid hy him for a broker's license that he bad not used, be refunded, reported and recommended re-commended that the prayer ot the petition be not granted. The report was adopted. Bill of Dennis Long & Co., waterworks water-works account, $347.97, was allowedj also the bill of J. L. Rawlin?, city attorney, for one month's salary, $1G6j; also bill of Dr. Youug lor surgical services to a man iu tho city orison, $j(3. The supervisor's report for the quarter ending November 30th was read and referred to the committee on claims. Council adjourned till next Tuesday evening at 6.30 o'clock. |
