Show The Newucry (Mass.) silver mine are in litigation. They are said to be rich some say as rich as any' mine iu Colorado. The Boston and Maine railroad will lay a track: to convey con-vey tho ore from the mine to tho smelting houses which are- to be erected on tho Neivburport wharves. Tho mine U supposed to extend in its general direction, 20 deg. east of north, six or seven miles. The Corn-stock Corn-stock lode in Nevada, hitherto supposed sup-posed to be the richest in the world, yields $-15, while this averages $S0 to tko ton. This discovery h;is set the people of New England crazy, and a great many prospecting parties will be fitted out during the ensuing spring. There is no reason why silver ore should be confined to this particular locality in Massachusetts, and it may yet be that the miners from tho Kooky mountains will bo in demand in the vicinity of Plymouth rock and Bunker Hill monument, and that New Hampshire and Vermont, Ver-mont, contrary to the geologists, may prove rich in depojits of precious metals. |
