Show : City Council. Proceedinga at the city council on Tuesday evening, July 8th, 1879, Alderman Dinwoodey presiding: A communication was preaented from J.J. Soell, representing that he was the owner of a piece of land only a few feet from the spring from which the Warm Spring Bath Houae iaaupplied, and upou which land is an overflowing spring in all respects the same aa the one which supplies the bath houae, and believing that in other banda it might become a source oi opposition to the city, he proposed to exchange the land now owned by him for certain other land on the mountain and owned by the city. Re-1 ferred to the committee on public grounde. Alderman Pyper preaented the report re-port of the police court for the month ending June 30th, 1879, which showed tnat seventy six casea nan been tried and $1,215.25 in total, collected col-lected in fines. Accepted. The lollowing bills lor the month of June, were presented and allowed : Marshal's expense bills, $160.63; expense ex-pense billa of fire department, $115 35; William Hyde, boarding orisoners, 595 mealf((ll cents, $65 45; medical attendance, etc., on prisoners, $30. It was decided by moiion to refer the subject of the propriety of transforming the Insane Asylum into a house of correction, to a joint tommittee composed com-posed of the committees on publio grounde and improvements, and the same committee was instructed to consider ail other matters pertaining to the Ineane Aaylum now before the council. The ordinance on numbering bouses came up on its second reading! and waa referred back to the committee commit-tee oo municipal laws for amend' ment. Council adjourned till next Tuesday evening, at the ueual hour. |
