Show TilE AXTELL LODE I is a new discovery, located by Spicer, Smith k Dupaix. It has firm galena and carbonates and a good strong vein from 0 inches to 15 inches t wide, and looks well. w But the biggest thing now going is ,- the old lead niinc, or Kollin's mine, fi owned by Gen. C. C. Clements, Jno. J M. Moore, Gen. Maxwell and com- pany, and of which that " One Spicer" has a bond and lease, and t has been developing it extensively for the last six months. I have now run it down over 2o0 feet deep on a vein I of ore from ten to fifteen feet wide of I galena and carbonates, with much 1 nulling ore. So far down I hayo i timbered it up with very heavy hewn j timbers, and made it a very splendid mine, ami have taken out many hund-1 hund-1 red tons of ore, on which I have been running the smelter. Day before I yesterday 1 broke into a cave at tho . bottom of the shaft, at a depth f I : 2"0 feet. This cave extends down ' f below the bottom of the shaft along r the west wall a distance of thirty feet, v and at tho bottom ol this cave is a spring of water eight feet in diameter : and seven feet deep. At this point 1 in the mine the vein of ore is fiom n twenty to thirty feet wide, and per-a per-a haps much wider, as l have not vol .r found the extremes cf it. The ore is belter and lichcr at this point than c' ever before, containing more galena, is and rich carbonates, and makes bullion bul-lion that carries ncaily $h) in gold. u lam now working it with a hor. whim, the very best one 1 have ever seen, raising sixty tons of ore per day j 1 at times. Al. Hazlington, my fore-1 st man in the mine, has Ukm great j pains in the limbering and rejoices in tho s:reat .strikes I have recently made in it. It i? now duwu on the water b-vcl with oceans of ore, and is n- no longer a prospect but the biggest irs and im st valuable mine in Utah. So jhutrah for Beaver county and Souih-JL' Souih-JL' " ern Utah, and hurry up the railroad. 101 'Clements, Moore and lien. Maxwell sh are here at. this time in high glee on over their mine, and ! el like milhun-a're- proposing logo ann;i the bears, "' nulls ami mountain lions o the S.u; -' I Fnincitco --lock board at once.
