Show The Coal Bed. I We were shown, yesterday, some , specimens of coal cropping taken -from the shaft being sunk by Messrs. W. Jarman and G. M. Makin, on the , bench near Butcherville. The old shaft has reached a depth of 175 ieet, and the new one, in which are the best indicalions, is fifteen feet deep. Mr. Makin, who is an experienced coal miner, is confident of early reaching a largo bed of excellent coal, and certain it is the prospects of success are most flattering. The specimens exhibited have the appearance appear-ance of bituminious coal, and we understand are such aa are usually found near that article. The entire community will wish Messrs. Jarman and associates the greatest succesa in their venture. |
