Show Tbe Distiugnished Visitors. It is lho expectation of tho distin-guitthed distin-guitthed party now in this city to remain here until Saturday afternoon, when they will proceed to San Fran eiaco, to continue their labors. Dur mg the morning the members of fae party visited ditlerent partBof the city, and the Hot and Warm Springs. Iu the forenoon nearly all the ladies and and gentlemen, together with a number num-ber of prominent citizens proceeded to the penitentiary to visit Hon. Geo. Q. Cannon, many o( whom entertain a high regard and warm personal feeling for that gentleman. The party remained some time at the penitentiary, engaging in general and pleasant conversation, and then returned. Considering everything, this visit to Mr. Cannon, at sucb a place, by his congressional brethren may be looked upon as a mark of peculiar esteem, and shows that though a Utah Methodist preacher, alias a judge, can incarcerate a con-greesman, con-greesman, bo cannot depreciate the respect entertained for that gentleman gentle-man which has grown out of a personal per-sonal acquaintance. In the afternoon, after-noon, the sights of the city were taken in, end in the evening a special train carried the entire party of ladies and gentlemen, still accompanied by prominent citizena, to Lake Point, returning after a delightful ride and bath in the inland briny deep. |
