Times' Cincinnati: The Miami savings society has closed its doors, with liabilities of $170,000, and assets appearing on the face ol the booka, $152,000. Tbeofficers are W. B. Dodda, president, John Holland Hol-land and S, C. Taium, vice presidents, J. C. MaoMaster, teller. There is noj charge of fraud, except that the pre- sideni has drawn a talary when he should not, as it was pnderstood that tbe officers were to draw no Balary unless the society made money and it has never made money. New York, 4. The Evening Post announces tbe failure of Jewell, Harrison Har-rison fc Co., provsion merchant. Tbe failure was announced by the firm one of the oldest in the trade in notices to the prodyco and cotton exoliangeB. Harrison was the first president ol the cotton exchange, and Jewell bas served as president of tbe produce exchange. In reply to inquiries, in-quiries, Harmon said their indebtedness indebted-ness wan principally due to members of their own luniihes. But little loss would tall upou the trade, and no member of tbe trade would be compromised com-promised by the fiiluro. |
