Show Fatal Accident. The following is from tbe Ogden Junction of Wednesday morning : It becomes our painful duty to record re-cord the death of Mr. Frank Check-elts, Check-elts, a promising young man, and well known in Kayaville. It appears that deceased, with acompaniou, had been herding aheen near the Paradise mills, on the divide between Ccbe and Ogden Valleys, for Mr. John S. Smith, anil about 2 a.m. .Monday, tboy were awakened by noises coming from tbe direction of the sheep corral near by. Supposing that bears were stunkine tho sheep, tbe two arose and proceeded pro-ceeded lo investigate the cause of tho noise. In the darkness tho friends became separated, and one of them returned to the wagon in which they slept and laid down oa the bed, waiting the return re-turn of hia unfortunate partner. Shortly alter the latter returned, and when near" the wagon shouted: "There are the bears!" Hia companion compan-ion seized a shot-gun, which was loaded with buck and chicken Bhot, and sprang forward. As he did bo, tbe hammer eame in contact with the wagon bed, and tho gun waa discharged, dis-charged, the contents entering the body of Mr. Checketta near the left hip, and ranging upward through the abdomen. The unfortunate young man lingered until yesterday at 2 p.m., when death kindly put an end to hia intense agony. The body waa placed in a coffin and sent to his parents, par-ents, who reside at Kayevillo. He was 17 years of age. |
