Show A Fight. The vicinity of the White House was enlightened, on Sunday evening, by a genuine set to between R. Hais' lup, commonly known as Bob Hooten, and one Billy WardelL There ii ome diversity of statements as to the cauee of the fight, but there is little doubt that there waa a caue, otherwise other-wise it is highly improbable that they would have engaged in a personal an-counter an-counter of such magnificent oroDor- tions. It is understood under-stood that at the hour when a majority ma-jority of the inhabitants ot this quiet burg bad betaken themselves to that occupation which is known to provoke such delightful sensations in the neighborhood ol the palate, Mr. Hooten proceeded to enjoy him- self in an equally intellectual manner wringing the nose of the aforesaid Billy. It U but oatural to assume that words had paseed between tbe parties prior to this exhibition of Sabbath evening iocularitv. Trnr.,-,ma inscrutable, of course, Mr. Wardell, did not appreciate Mr. Hooten's play-fulness, play-fulness, wherefor, be "hauled off," in common parlance, and "planted" his bunch of Va in tbe countenance which is generally recogniied as the personal properly of Mr. Hooten. A rapid exchange of these courtesies followed and a respite ensued. Mr. Wardell walked in the White House, di vested himself nf bia rt anri u ; aaid, was about to satisfy certain cravings that had manifested themselves them-selves in his interior regions. How ever, Mr. Hooten also entered the hotel, and as Wardell turned round he encountered Mr. Hooten'a compressed com-pressed digit, whicb, with the rapidity oi mougbt.s ughtoutthe tender spots on Mr. Wardell's orbs of vision and hia organ of smile. Here again followed fol-lowed an exchange of courteaieB, and by the lime they bad concluded Mr. Hooten aaw fit to dofi the counten ance by which be j's usually recognized recog-nized and don one of more v a riegated hue, and he was removed with care. Mr. Wardell eat his supper. The police interviewed both, and they in turn would have interviewed Judge Pyper but that Mr. Hooten waa not in a preseutabje condition. It is ex pect&d, however, tbt they will exchange ex-change courtesies with Judge Pyper today. |
