Show BANE'S ANTIDUTE. A Villa'.noas Assault. v A Dainty M. D. Cowardly Attacks and Beats Hr. A. M. Musser. Between 12 and 1 o'clock on Sutday, Harry Bane made a villainous assault on Mr. A. M. Mu?aer. The gentleman gentle-man had just re:urotd from attending the funeral services over tberemam-i of the late Joseph Standing, when Bane, accompanied by an individual named Geo. W. Eiliot, stepped up to the residence of Mr. Muaser f-nd rapped at the door. A little bjd cf this gentleman was eitting in the front room, and answered the cirl, ' and upon inquiring lor Mr. Mutser, j the latter stepped into the room. Bane and his companion were invited to come in, but the former handed Mr. Mueser an envelope, aud presented pre-sented it with the complirueuU ol Mrs. M. M. Bane. At tnis instant Bane drew a rawhide Irom behind him, and without the slightest warning warn-ing struck Mr. Muaser bucu a severe blow over the head that be was utunned. A number ol blows followed in rapid succession before the assaulted gentleman had an opportunity of making any defense. The boy, seeing his father abused, endeavored en-deavored to get out ol the door, but the fellow named Elliot would not allow him to pass. Mrs. Musser, hearing Ihe noise, came and en deavored to pass, but she also was prevented. However, she pushed by, and just as the great and mighty Bane was about to strike Mr. Muaser again, the lady caught ine rawhide and wrested it from him. Bane aud his companion then left, got into a buggy which was tied in frunt of the residence of M. M. Bane, and Btarted of! at a lively gait. In the meantime, mean-time, however, the little boy had run out of a rear door to the pulice station and informed the officers that a couple of men were beating his father, and which was at the time the aseuilanttj were making ofl. The police jumped into a buggy and drove alter the fleeing men, and finally overlook them at the euburbs of the city, brought them back and put them in jail. . They were alterwards released, giving bail in $500 eaoh, to appear on Wednesday morning for examination. Mr. Musser is very severely injured about the head, examination Bhowing some seventeen bruises, Harry Bane is an alleged eon ol M. M. Bane, of disagreeable notoriety in connection with the land office-divorce office-divorce ebysteriug; or, to be more explicit, the rabid and illiberal individual in-dividual that rides au educational hobby horse. Young Bane is of moderate height, very heavy built, young and active. Tbe rawhido waB about an inch in diameter at the butt, and prrnaps two and a half feet in lengln. The cause of the assault is an article arti-cle written by Mr. Musser and published pub-lished in the Heeald a week ago last Sunday morning and whicb the assailant asbumed reflected on his mother; but how this conclusion is arrived at is a conundrum. As regards re-gards the assault, all denounce it and its perpetrators in unmeasured terms. |
