On motion of Mr. Smith, the action of the house providing for the printing print-ing of 2,000 copies of the report of the superintendent of common Bohools was forwarded to the council for concurrence. con-currence. hAr Milner reported as follows. "Your committee on education, to whom was referred aedieua 1 and 35 of the revenuo bill, beg leave tn report that we btve had tbe aame under consideration, and recommend that 3 mills, for school purposes, should be inserted in Sic. 1, and lhat Sec. 35, or the repealing claubc in the revenun bill, should repeal so much of Sec. 591 compiled laws of Utah as relates to the assessment of 'one fourth of one per cent, on all taxable property within their districts, for echool purposes,' pur-poses,' and shall have power to remit taxes.' Also," so much of See. 608 compiled lawa of Utah as relates to the appropriation of '$20,000 annually for the use of district eohooli,' Your committee further recoov mends that the above amendments be incorporated in the substitute revenue bill. Mr. Lyman moved that $22.48 be placed upon the appropriation hill, for the reliel ofJoaeph 8. Gyles, ex-assessor and collector of Millard county; referred to the committee on claims and apprapriations. Mr. Atwood moved that a committee commit-tee be appointed to act with a like committee of the council, to examine exam-ine the redeemed auditor's warrants and oancel or destroy them. Messrs. Atwood and Webster were appointed said committee. H. F. 18, substitute revenue bill, was taken up on its second reading by ections. A motion by Mr. Farr that the rate of tax for school purposes, provided for in section 1, be two mills on tho dollar instead of three, was lost.
