Show I WASHINGTON. I I Washington, 4. Davis to day presented pre-sented to the house of representatives I the resolution adopted by ihe conven ( tiou of the trader's unions held at San Francisco, recently, concerning Chinese Chi-nese immigration and Ihe tariff questions. ques-tions. They were referred to the ; coruoiiltee on education and labor and are likely to exert a very favor able influence upon ita consideration i of the Chinese problem, being both strong and temperate. There is no truth in the published asser i lions that this committee has marJtested an inclination to shirk action upon the Chinese question. I The delays that have occurred are by no means extraordinary, and a this committee has not yet been , reached this session in the call of re-, re-, ports Irorn committees for action, 'nothing will have beeu losl by these : delays in cise a satisfactory report be agreed upon within the next week or itwo. The prospeots for such an agreement have for some time been constant'y improving tinder the pres sure of the persistent aud sagacious ellljrte of the members of the Pacific coast delegation. The bouse, in finally passing the legislative, executive aud judicial appropriation bill today, made no change in any of tbe Pacific coast litems heretofore reported iu these dispatches as agreed to in committee of tbe whole. Several of them will probably be amended however by tbe senate. There is much talk to day concerning the negative aetion taken by tbe joiut caucus committee of democratio senators and representatives represent-atives last night in regard to the proposed Florida investigation. It ia learned that one ol the democratic senators put tbe case in a manner which oreated a profound impression. Ho aaid an inveatigation of these al leged frauds, if solemnly ordered by the bouse must be for one, or both ot two objects. If it is to take steps to oust Hayes, there are not said to be two democrats out of ten who desire to get Tilden in tbe white house; but it the orject were merely to make party capital, he greatly doubted its expediency. He predicted that the republicans would in the first place insist on extending lbs investigation investi-gation to embaraseiug limits aud that they would also eflectively argue that the democrats were endeavoring to disturb the peace of the country lo create a revolution against the decision ot a tribunal estahlisntd by democratic voles and to pul Tilden in the white liune although bis own party do not want him there. Moreover, if tbe investigations were vigorously pres ed it would solidiiy the fictions of the republican party and yive cohesive strength to an organization which he j believed was now disintegrating. As a result of this and similar plain talk ' from several other members ol the committee, it was decidid to restrain the democratic Hotspurs, nl least for tbe present, and tbe resolution which was to have beeD brought forward iu the house nsTt Monday will not be oflered.
