Show Major Hempstead's Funeral. The funeral services over tbe remains re-mains of tbe late Major C. H. Hempstead, Hemp-stead, took place from his residence at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Nearly the entire bar was present, and a great many prominent business men The remains were laid in tbe north room iu a handsome coffin, on which were three beautiful wreaths of flowers; and those desiring to take a parting look at the features ol this the opportunity of doing eo. The face was wonderfully life like, and bad not tbe Bad truth been too well known, one would readily have thought him sleeping. Tbe Episcopal services were read by Rev. R. M. Kirby, and tho pall bearers selected from the mem bers of the bar, carried tbe remains to the City Cemetery, where they were deposited in tbo lot owned by the deceased, and in which somo of bis family bad already been buried. |
